On Friday evening last there was a rather sensational holt, or rather two of" them. Messrs. Callaghan and Xott, factory manager and his assistant at Ononui respectively, were driving home from the Kahui road creamery, when their horse shied, and, turning suddenly, threw both of them out on the road. The- horse continued his mad career towards Rahotu, overtaking a dray and three horses driven by Mr. F. Willeox, He was knocked down, hut fortunately uninjured, and the gig striking one of the leaders caused the team to bolt. The dray capsized on the Pungarerc bridge, and one of the horses was precipitated into the creek. Assistance was soon forthcoming, and the horses were, recovered uninjured. The horse that caused all the trouble was caught by McKeown near Mr. Groom's nursnrv. .Mr. Xott. one of the occupant* of the gig. was severely cut about the head, so much *o thai it was necessary to insert ! --evcnl -ti1,.],,-.
