NATIONAL PARK BOARD.
ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting of the Egmont National Park Board was held at New Plymouth yesterday, when there were present: Messrs. W. Armstrong (chairman), .1. R. Hill, C. Goodson, R. McK. Morison, P. W. Wilkie, W.*A. Collis and S. Percv Smith. Mr. W. A. Collis. on behalf of the Board, welcomed Mr. W. Armstrong, Commissioner of Crowjn Lands, on his assuming the position ns. chairman of the Board, vice Mr. P. Simpson. A letter was read from the Stratford Borough Council, notifying the appointment of Mr. R. McK. Morison to the Board, in place of Mr. Budge, who had resigned. Apologies were received for the absence of Messrs. G. A. Marehant and A. H. Moore, and they were each granted leave of absence.
The lease for the new- North Egmont Mountain House was discussed, the Board's solieitor being in attendance. After some amendments it was finally adopted by tho Board. On tho motion of Mr. Collis, it was resolved that the matter of survey of the site for the new house be left in the hands of the chairman. The plan of the new house was approved by the Board. It was decided to notify the Board's tenants that they must eradicate noxious weeds within one month. The election of Messrs. M. Fraser and T. Avery to the North Egmonfc Committee was approved. The various committees are to be notified that the regulations of the Egmont National Park Board regarding fees and other receipts will be enforced in future, n statement of the funds of each committee to foe drawn up on September 30 next, and the balance paid into the Board's account at the respective places. Mr. Morison is to make enquiries re East House, and report to the Board. 'Mr. Morison's action in giving instructions re impounding cattle trespassing on the reserve was confirmed. On the motion of the chairman, it was resolved that a memo, be forwarded to the Minister, pointing out the damage that is done to tho reserve by trespassing cattle, and asking for assistance in the matter of a paid ranger. Mr. IT. flraham was appointed a ranger of the Board. The North Egmont Committee was granted permission to dispose of dead * trees lying on the track. P The next meeting of the Board will < be held at the Dawson's Falls House. Accounts amounting to £IOB 3s 3d were passed for payment.
