THE COMMITTEE REPLIES TO '

CRITICISMS. The Urenui school committee, tln^gh its chairman, has written to the ?J(?arffnaiki Education Board, as follows in?,Con< nection -with the recent report by/Mr. oc the school and surrounrliags: "I am instructed by my committee to thapk you for the health inspeetor's report 011 the Urenui school, which was sent 1 for our inspection. The committee feel thai the inspector might have let .the .chairman or some member of the committee know of his intended visit, as it is a matter that they, 'above all people, .should have known about. ,■ (1), Re light in infants' room.—The light in tkis room lias, been complained of by all assistant teachers for some time past, and the inspeetor's attention • drawn to it; also Dr. Frengley reported j on .the bad lighting in this room as j being very bad for the eyes. (2) The school is overcrowded when the attendance is- much over 100, especially the infant room.
