Lieutenant-Commander George, of the cruiser West Virginia, has been placed on trial on a charge of being intoxicated while on duty. The accused attended a dinner by tho officers of the Canadian militia at Vancouver in .July, and it is alleged that thereat lie made certain remarks seriously involving the friendly spirit existing between the United States and Canada.
