LOSS OF THE WHANGAROA. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 18, 10 p.m. Sydney, August 18. During the Marine Court enquiry concerning the loss of the Whangaroa the judge declared that instead of Captain Pearson being to blame he was to be highly commended. He did well to get the crew ashore. The crew also were worthy of great praise for the way in which they had worked together.
THE MILK STANDARD. , Received 19, 12.30 a.m. Sydney, August IS. The Full Court held that the Pure Food Act requires milk to be of the prescribed standard whether it is of a lower standard by the fault of the vendor or not. NEGLECTED QUARANTINE SYSTEM. Eeceived 19, 12.30 a.m. Melbourne, August IS. Mr. Tudor states that he will require a quarter of a million to modernise the quarantine system of the Commonwealth,' owing to its neglect since it was taken over from the States. He proposes to send a doctor on a tour of the world to inspect other systems.
