Since January 1 Germany's imports have increased by £15,000,000, and her exports by £16,500,000, as compared with 1910. STOCK DISEASE IN GERMANY. Received 18, 11.40 p.m. Berlin, August 17. Seven thousand six hundred and sixtynine farms are affected with foot and mouth disease, which, in combination with a shortage of fodder, is causing apprehensions of a shortage of meat. The Government is considering the reduction of railway rates on fodder, and if possible, importation from abroad. DROUGHT IN INDIA. Received 18, 12.30 a.m. Calcutta, August 17.
There are gloomy drought reports from Delhi, which is becoming the centre of a huge cropless and waterless area. There is a serious cholera outbreak. It is definitely settled that the military programme for the Durbar will be greatly curtailed as a consequence. TRUSTMONGERS PUNISHED. Received 18, 12.30 a.m. New York, August 17. Thirteen members of a poultry trufet, operating only in New York City, were sentenced to three months' imprisonment and each fined £ 100 for conspiracy in restraint of trade. The trial lasted 53 days.
