CANDIDATES' SPEECHES.
Christchurch, Last Night. Mr. J. D. Hull, in a speech, stated that the manner in which those who helped him had done their work led him to believe the figures would be altered in two months' time, when, as far as he was concerned, he would give them am opportunity of deciding whether or not that would be the case.
The Rev. L. M. Isitt said he regarded the victory as a tribute to their dead leader. It was no secret that the Conservative forces had been concentrated upon the struggle, and the Conservatives took it that if they won the election, it would be an evidence of the turn ot the tide of public opinion. They had failed, nnd he honestly believed that the day had passed for legislation of the spirit and character the Conservatives believed was for the good of the Dominion.
