GOOD TEMPLARY
With so many counter attractions, and the wet weather, it was not to be expected that the attendance would be large last evening. It was culled "An Evening of Entertainment," and so it was—entertainments of various kinds. Mr. J. B. Roy was in the chair, and in his oponing remarks highly praised the appearance of the interior of the building, with its ample yet tasteful finish in New Zealand timber. He said lie was not a Good Templar, though he had much sympathy with their aims. Someone interjected, "You will be yet," to which forecast he was not prepared to given an absolute negative. Miss Grimley did not talk about Temipla.ry direct, as she thought that they were well informed on that topic She wished to give a little advice as follows: "Don't let trifles hinder you from doing the good work you set out to do." Illustrating her subject, she recited "A Bad Beginning" and' "The Fence or the Ambulance." The musical parts were a piano solo by .Miss A. If. Smith, and selections from "II Trovatoro" on the violin by Miss Dowling, Mrs. Dowling playing the accompaniment. This item was well worth coming to hear, and was, of course, encored. Then followed the "Sketch"—amusing, well given and with, of course, a good undercurrent of temperance teaching. The meeting elosod with the singing of "God Save the King."
