ANNUAL CONFERENCE.. By Telegraph —Press Association. Wellington, Wednesday. The Agricultural Conference to-day passed the fallowing resolutions:— "That the Government be asked' to establish a breeding and experimental farm in the South Island; that where land of suitable nature and conveniently situated is offered to the Agricultural Department for experimental purposes by. any A. and P. Association the Department .be urged to subsidise the same £ for £ and provide a superintendent; that the Government be asked to take active steps to keep down noxious weeds on> Crown and native lands, and to offer further inducements for any efficient means of eradication; that the conference riews with alarm the rapid and general increase of rabbits through the waste and unoccupied lands of the North Tsland, immediately adjoining the East Coast rabbits district, and urges the Department to insist 011 more complete means being taken to cope with the evident increase of the pest." A number of items on the order paper of the Agricultural Conference to-day dealt with the improvement of agricultural shows and kindred institutions. A motion that the Minister be asked to establish a research scholarship specially devoted to agriculture, if possible to embrace a travelling allowance, if the appointee prefers to pursue his work in other countries, was rejected, and the conference decided to consider what steps could be taken to increase the usefulness at agricultural associations and agricultural shows.
