Six vine dressers from the Marne province were sentenced at Douai to imprisonment ranging from one to fortyeight months for rioting. Twenty-four were acquitted. BLOWN UP BY A SHIP'S ROCKET. Received 16, 10 p.m. London, August 16. Six children, while playing with a ship's rocket, dropped it on the pavement. The explosion following blew three of them to fragments, and a fourth lies in a critical condition. ALLEGED CUSTOMS FRAUDS. Received 17, 12.30 a.*. Washington, August 10. The Federal Government has investigated the alleged Customs frauds, involving under-valuation of goods imported into Seattle from Japan. A loss of £1,000,000 is probable.
