HUNT CLUB BALL.
Despite the teeming rain there was a good attendance at the Xorth Taranaki Hunt ball in the Theatre Royal last night. The committee in charge of the arrangements had prepared an excellent floor, draped the dress circle with flags, and displayed trophies of the hunt on the pillars. Mrs. Woods' fine orchestra had been engitged, and provided excellent music. Verv special att&ntio* had been given to tne supper arrangements, and in a larger than usual supper room Mr. A. Wooller put on a menu that has seldom if ever been equalled at a similar function in Taranaki. The guests enjoyed thejnselve9 right royally, and the ball-room was a picture, "some charming toilettes being noticed. During the evening Mr. A. H. Halcfombe thanked the ladW committee for their untiring efforts to make the ball a success, and to property owners for permission to hunt over their farms and for the hospitable treatment extended to the hunt. The secretary, who was responsible for the hulk of the work, wa* Mr. A. L. Humphries, and the M.C.'n were Messrs. A. 11. Halcombe (master). B. H. Chaney and A. Matthews (deputymasters) and E. L. Humphries.
