ALLEGED SLANDER
MONOKTON v. BYRON BROWN. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, 'Last Night. An advance in the stage of a slander ivction was mentioned lie fore Mr. Justice Sim nt his chamber sitting today. The panties are Charles Arthur Whitmo re Monekton, of Pahiki, near Otakl, grazier and dealer in live stock, plaintiff, and Byron Brown, of Otaki, storekeeper. Defendant's claim is for £l2ofl damages on five causes of nctioi;, each asking for £250 for alleged slander relating to plaintiff's financial position. Mr. Blair, for defendant, moved for discovery and interrogatories, and secured a general order. Mr. Morison. for plaintiff, applied for interrogatories to l>e answered, to which Mr. "Blair consented. The tiction will come up for bearing at Palmerston North during the ensuing session* of the Supreme Court.
