GOOD TEMPLARY.
The Good Templar week was continued in the new hall .last night, when there was a, fair attendance, the Rev. J. Laird presiding. The chairman expressed his satisfaction at .being present, but regretted that illness had prevented the Rev. Mclvor from taking the chair, as promised. He expressed his sympathy with the whole temperance movement, and cited the instance of Pagannini, the great violinist, whose playing was perfect, but who had no wine. On two occasions he failed because he took a glass of wine. Miss. Grimley took as her topic, "Is life worth living?" She said that neither wealth, nor position, nor» fame, made life worth living, tot that life was -worth living for the service we could render. Sh a quoted the words of the dying Wolseley, who said: "Had I but sewed my God as I have served my King I should not be neglected in my old age." Instances without number might be quoted to show that self-sacrifice for others gave a true nest to life. She referred to a Good Templar saving a man and bringing him to the lodge. The Airdrie Lodge in Scotland was tlie largest in the world, with 2000 members, and their labors made life worth living for numbers. The musical programme consisted of the following: Pianoforte solo, Mr. McGregor; chorus, by members of the 'TP'; irecitation, "Kitty OToole," Miss H. Brokcnsliire; and a recitation from the G.C.T., "The Drink Fiend." A collection and the Doxology concluded the meeting.
