THE OPPOSITION POLICY. By Telegraph—Press Association. Eketahuna, Last Night. Mr. Massey, Leader of the Opposition, accompanied by Mr. Nosworthy, M.P. for Ashburton, was tendered a luncheon at Eketahuna to-day. There was a representative gathering. Mr. Nosworthy indicated that the policy of the Opposition, if returned, would be the effecting of reforms of the administration Tather than new legislation. Mr. Massey said he was in favor of the Canadian system of audit, which gave the people the fullest particulars of every penny of public money spent. He dealt with other subjects' on the lines of his recent speeches.
MR. MASSEY AT PAHIATUA. Pahiatua, List Night. Mr. Massey addressed a meeting ofover eight hundred people. His speech was on the lines of that delivered at Masterton on Saturday night. He quoted a return, dated September 30, 1910, showing that at that date 3,000,000 acres of native land were leased to Europeans. He condemned Maori landlordism just as he did State or pakeha landlordism. The difference between pakeha and Maori landlordism was that Maoris paid no and taxes. He traversed the Mokau land case, and criticised the constitution of the committee to which it was referred. Nevertheless he would go on with it if the opportunity were given him of calling references and making- the evidence public. It was resolved that the meeting pass a hearty vote of thanks and confidence in the Leader of the Opposition for his able and instructive address and declaration of policy, and is clearly of opinion that the time has arrived when it is to the best interests of the Dominion that the Government should be turned out of office.
The motion was carried with acclama tion, there being three or four dis sentient voices.
Mr. Massey said it was the most outspoken motion yet carried during the present campaign.
