Washington, August 11. Mr. Perkins, further questioned at the Steely Trust inquiry, declared that the existing laws were making it impossible to conduct the business of big corporations. Asked how much King George had invested in the Steel Corporation, Mr. Parkin* replied that it was not known, as the King had never told him. CHOLERA IN ITALY. Rome, August 11. There have been 707 cases of cholera and 300 deaths have been reported within the last five days in Southern Italy. A WAREHOUSE BURNED. Antwerp, August M. By a fire in the warehouse known a* tke Australia and Queensland warehouse damage was inflicted to the extent of £300,000. ■ "■■ A TERRIFIC EXPLOSION. New York, August 11. A terrific explosion, the origin of •which is unknown, shattered several buildings in the Italian quarter of St. Louis. A nuiriber of persons were overwhelmed in the debris and, it is believed, are dead.

The dockers have resumed work and are receiving piece-work instead of day payment. AN EARL PARDONED. London, August 11. Harl Russell, who in 1901 was found guilty of felony .by the House of Lords and sentenced .to three months' imprisonment for bigamy, has been granted a. free pardon. [Earl Russell secured a divorce in America and married again, thus committing bigamy according to English law.] RELIEF CREWS. London, August 11. The Crescent and Gibralter have sailed for Colombo with relief crews for the Cambrian, Pyramus, Penguin, Psych© and Pioneer.
