A PLUCKY RESCUE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, Saturday. A fire at Takapuna destroyed the neivly-erected vicarage of St. Peter's Church, which was occupied by the Rev. W, Monckton and family. The vicar endeavored to get Mr. Oldhani, aged 80, out of the house, but was overcome by the suffocating smoke. A neighbor named Collins rushed bravely into the blazing building and picked the old man up bodily and carried him out of the vicarage.' The building was insured in the National Office for £SOO.
