SUICIDE AT ASHBURTON. By Telegraph—Press Association. Ashburton, Saturday. Thomas Mummery, aged 27, a single man, committed suicide this morning by shooting himself in the head with a revolver. The deed was apparently premeditated, as a note was left authorising his brother to collect his wages. MARRIED WOMAN'S DEATH. Auckland, Saturday. A married woman, Mrs. Andrew, residing at Milford beach, Takapmia, disappeared early last evening. The family searched all night, but were unsuccessful. This morning the police found the dead body in a creek.

THE MURDEROUS PEA-RIFLE. Auckland, Saturday. A boy named Brock, son of a surfaceman at Owhango, was accidentally shot by his brother with a pea-rifle which had been left in a corner of the house. Death was instantaneous. A BUILEDR'S SUICIDE. Wellington, Last Night. William Johnson, a married man, and a very old resident of Wellington, and well-known in the building trade, was found dead in bed yesterday. He rented a room at No. 7 Hopper street from Mr. Ludwig Koch. His wife is visiting England at present. Deceased had been in bad health lately, having suffered from gastritis, and it is vstated that he had worried over money mutters. At 5.30 p.m. on Friday he telephoned Mr. J. W. Evans, painter, of Cuba street, and said good bye, adding that he would not seo him again. Yesterday morning, at 9.40, Mr. Evans and Mr. V. Jensen went to his room aaid found him in bed quite dead. A bottle which had contained prussic acid was lying by. At the inquest to-dav, a verdict was returned of suicide while of unsound mind. DEATH FROM A FALL. Wellington, Last Night. James Joseph Martin, expressman, died in the hospital to-day as a result of injuries received through falling from , his express on August 4. An inquest is [ being held this afternoon.
