Germany has abandoned her claim to the entire French Congo, and the negotiations have reached a more reasonable phase, with a possible exchange of certain regions in the French Congo for regions in the German Cameroons. The German claims in this regard are still considered excessive.
SUGGESTED COMPENSATION. Berlin, August 10. An officially prompted news agency states that France is offering the hinterland of the Cameroons, from Lake Chad to the junction with a line running eastward from Libreville in the French Congo. SULTAN SERIOUSLY ILL. Received 11, 10.40 p.m. Fez, August 11. Mulai Hand is suffering from typhoid. His condition is serious.
