MAGISTRATE'S COURT. (From Our Own Correspondent). The Inglewood S.M. Court sat yesterday .before Mr. Kenrick, S.M. Judgment was given for plaintiff by default in the following cases:—M. A. Rowe v. J. Thomson, claim £2 IGb 4d, costs ss; Paterson Bros. v. P. G. Smith, claim £2 18s lid, costs 12s; J. D. Quigley v. Walter Lawrence, claim £ 1 l()s. costs 10s; Henry Hickton v. W. F. Hawke. claim £0 14s 9d, costs £1 18s Cd; A". R. Thomas v. C. H. Masters, chum t!) 18s 3d, costs £1 3s Cd: H. J. M. Tliom- [ son v. J. H. Allen, claim £4 3s. costs lis; Stewart Huston v. T. Taylor, claim £1 10s (id, costs £1; King and Stibbs v. William Sudfeldt. claim j£3 7s 2d, costs 10s. A number of cases set down were either confessed to. or settled out, of court. DEFENDED CASF George R. Smith, of Tar.'ti.' farmer (Mr. Thomson), ,sued Michael Hartigan, of Tarata, fanner (Mr. Gray), for lfis, being the value of one sheep, and 10s damages for the alleged wrongful sale of the sheep at the Tarata sheep fair on February 14 last. After hearing the evidence of both parties and their witnesses, and without the usual address from couneel on either side, the Magistrate gave judgment for defendant, with costs £3 13s Od. POLICE CASES.
iA prohibition order was granted by consent against a local business man.
A youth named A. Hopkinson was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when called upon on two charges Of theft,
