On August 3, at Mr. H. Kemp's sale at Robsoii road, the cattle offered were a nice lot. and good prices were realised all round. Early calvers made £fi 10s to £ll, later £4 IDs to £6. springing heifers £5 2s lid to £7 ss, 2 to 3-year heifers £,'! 12s fid to £4 ss, yearling heifers 50s, mixed yearlings 32s to 37s lid, hulls £2 His to' £lO ss. marcs £22 to £2B ss, ev/es 12s (Id. gig £'.) ss, dray £2l 15s.
On August 4, at a clearing sale on account of Mr. 11. Ilolfe, of Tikorangi, there was a good attendance, and the stock sold well. Early calvers £6 to £lO 15s, later £4 to £5 15s. bull £3, yearling heifers 355, mixed yearlings 30s, hoggets 7s 3d, sows £2 5s to £3 10s, weaners 8s lid, d.f. plough £lO ss. On the same day I held a clearing sale at Bird road on account of Mr. E. Dohcrty. The cattle were a fine lot and met with keen competition. Early calvers realised £0 15s to £l6 10s, later £4 to £O, empty £3 2s 6d to £7, bull £4 2s fid. draught horse £33, trap mare £l6, porkers 275. waggon £lO 15s, dray £l4 10s. plough £4 10s, jack £4 ss, mower £5, rake £4 10a.
At my fortnightly sale at Uremri on the 7th inst. there was a large yarding, especially of dairy cattle, several complete herds being offered and realising the following prices:—Mr. A. Thompson's herd £5 10s to £ll ss; Messrs H. and 1). P. Masker's herd £6 to £ll ss. T also soli! on account of Mr. E.
Julian, who ha- disposed of his farm, his fine flock of -sheep, which brought the following prii->-<: Two to six-tooth ewes l;?s. four-tooth ewes Us 4d, ewes and lambs 15s 4d. wethers 13s 3d to 14s Id. Of the ordinary yarding of store cattle mixed yearlings made 30s to 42s Od, heifers 425. 2 to 2'/..-year steers £3 2s

On the same day I offered Messrs I'Ht Rros.' springing heifers at my Stratford yards, when there was a good attendance. About 130 heifers were penned, and these being in really good condition, met with keen competition throughout, realising from £5 2s fid to £ll ss, an average of £7 3s per head. On Tuesday T held by usual fortnightI ly sale at Stratford, when there was aj good attendance of buyers and a large yarding. Mixed yearlings made 30s tid' te 395, yearling heifers £2 to £2 lis Od, yearling steers 37s fid to 52s 6d, 2-year do. £3 Is. 2>/» to 3-year do. £4 7s, fat bullocks £7 2s, 2-year heifers £3 3s to £3 15s. do. Jersey £3 19s, store cows 38s (id to £3 ss. forward £3 IDs to £4. fat cows £5, bulls 37s to £fi. On the same day at the dairyyards I held the first springing heifer sale of the season, when a good number were penned and satisfactory prices realised. On account of Mr. D. McMillan, heifers (close up) made £5 15s to £lO 10s, in-calf heifers £3 10s to £5. On acI count of Mr. Ilerlihy, a very choice lot were offered, which brought from £5 17s fid to £9 10s. On account of other vendors, dairy cows made £5 to £9, springing heifers £5 to £8 10s, backward heifers £3 7s (id to £4 15s.
At Stony River on Wednesday there was a good yarding, and though competition was keen, prices were slightly' easier than at last sale. Mixed yearlings made 35s to 50s, yearling heifers £2 to. £2 18s, yearling steers €2 to £2 2s, 2-year steers £3 2s Od, empty heifers £3 13s 6d to £3 ISs, springing heifers £5 5s to £(> 15s. store cows ,C2 7s 6d to £3 4s, forward £3 Us to £4, sprinjging cows £4 lis to £7 10s, hulls £2 to £3 18*.
N.Z.L & M.A. CO.'S REPORT. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile.: Agency Co., Ltd. (Stratford) report for the week ending Kith inst. that there is a keen demand for two-year-olrl steers and empty two-year-old heifers, from, both local and outside clients. Four or five outside clients visited our district and purchased stock aggregating 400 head. During the week we disposed of six herds of cows, on account of Whangamomona clients, to local purchasers. We also report a better enquiry for hoggets and wethers, and the prospects for yearling steers appear to be good. Our next auction sale will be held at our Stratford yards on Tuesday next, the loth inst. MATTHEWS & RENNETT'S REPORT. Matthews and Bennett report that there was a large etnry of cattle in their Inglewood yards on Wednesday last, and prices are as follows:—Calves 37s to £2 3s lid. springers £5 to £7, in-ealf heifers £4 14s to £li 10s, store cows £3 to £3 7s (id, wethers lis Id, hoggets 7s 6d.

BURNSIDE. ( At Burnside 205 fat cattle were yard J. cd. The bulk were of medium quality, with a few pens of really prime. Owing I to the largo yarding, prices receded to I the rates ruling a fortnight ago. Prime j bullocks £ll to £l2 10s, extra to £l4 /s, medium £8 5s to £lO, best cows j ami heifers £8 10s to £9 15s, medium £6 to £7 10s.
Fat sheep—3s4l penned. The majority were really good wethers, and there Were a few pens of prime ewes. The market was very erratic, and, taken all through, prices were Is to 2s per head easier than last week. Prime wethers 20s Cd to 22s 6d, extra to 25s Shi, medium l<ss to 18s Cd, ewes 17s tid to 19s.
Fat lambs—lSO penned. Most of these were bought by butchers. The quality was only medium. Best 14s 6d to 16s, extra to 17s 6d, medium 12s 6d to 13s Cd.
Pigs—There was only a medium yarding. Baconers wore scarce and realised ■ good prices. Heavy baconers 00s to 05s, light 45s to 50«. WANGANUI. Messrs Dalgety and Co. report:—At our Wanganui sale we had a fair yarding of sheep and cattle, and have, to report a quiet sale. Hoggets 8s 6d to 10s 2d, wethers lis to 12s 2d, empty cows £1 16s to £3 10s, dairy cows £4 to £7. JOHNSONVILLE. Messrs Abraham and Williams, Ltd., report on their Johnsonville sale as follows:—A good yarding of bullocks and a heavy one of sheep came forward, and met with a ready sale. Prime heavy bullocks £lO 15s to £ll 2s 6d, prime medium weights £0 12s 6d to £lO, light do. £8 12s 6d to £8 17s (id, vealers 27s Od, prime heavy wethers 22s fid, prime •wethers IDs 5d to 20s, extra prime heavy ewes 22s 9d to 24s 6d, prime ewes 18s fid, good medium ewes 16s fid.
