AMERICA WANTS SOME POINTS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 10, 10.20 p.m. London, August 10. Mr. Meyer, Secretary of the United States Navy, is visiting England with a view to reducing the expenses of the American Navy Yards to the English level. Mr. R. McKenna (First Lord of the Admiralty) and Admiral Sir A. K. Wilson are assisting him.
In the course of an interview Mr. Meyer stated that he was much interested in the Dominion navies. The visit of the United States fleet, to Australasia gave a great impetus to the desire for a* Australian-built and Australianmanned squadron. He dul not agree that Australia might have difficulty in manning warships. America did not try te find sailors; she looked for bright, active youths, and trained them.
