GENERAL TELEGRAMS

THE "NE TEMERE" DECREE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The Wellington Presbytery to-day' decided to forward an overture to theGcneral Assembly against the "Ne temere decree." Dr. Gibb said his reasons for moving the overture were, first, that the decree was an unwarrantable interference with the liberty of the subject. The only barriers to marriage were mental deficiency and moral considerations. Second, that in the decree a veriable regulation was lifted to the level of the law of God; and, third, that by the decree Roman Catholics are tempted to repudiate their moral solemn obligations. THE BAROMETER. Hokitika, Yesterday. The barometer yesterday reached 80.G44, the highest recorded for twentyone years.
