LET THERE BE LIGHT.

To the Editor. Sir—During a meeting of Good Templars at Waitara on Thursday last, the Rev. E. J. Liddell reported a conversation with a New Plymouth doctor, who< •declared that alcohol was a poison, and' of no use for human consumption. Now, I happen to know a hotelkeeper in this borough who has at one time or another supplied alcohol to the order of every medical man in town for the use of their patients. Without wishing to cast a shadow of doubt upon the veracity of the rev. gentleman, I think this is a matter which the ordinary mind | may well ask a little light.—l n"m, etc J.J.11 .
