POLICE HOAXED.
A BERLIN INCIDENT. By Cable—Press Association —Copyright. Berlin, August 7. The police were hoaxed in making the raid on the thieves' quarters in Ziegenhals by an anonymous denunciation from the alleged sweetheart of a burglar. The twenty persons who were arrested have been released, and the jewellry which was seized has been restored. The incident referred to was thus described in a cablegram received the previous day: A hundred police, armed with Browning pistols and sabres, at midnight surrounded the village of Ziegenhals, a suburb of Berlin, a resort of thieves. They seized a quantity of stolen jewels, and made twenty arrests.
