EGMONT (1) v. TATARAIMAKA (1). The series of matches between these two clubs liad resulted in'each side winning an equal number of games, and' the play-off, which eventuated at Taitarai- ■ maka on Saturday, was looked to provide an interesting tussle, and so it proved. The Egmont men, although so .badly beaten the previous week, took the fleldi on Saturday determined to do their utmost to win, Egmont made the pace warm from the start, and for the first quarter of an hour play was confined to Tatamimaka territory, the visiting fori wards narrowly missing the net on several occasions. Tatamimaka then livened up, and the ,ball travelled up and down the field at a great rate for the remainder of the spell, which ended without a score being registered. The second! spell was even more strenuous, first one side and then the other attacking, but the defence of both teams was sound, and it was not until half-way through the spell that a score came, a scramble in the Egtmont goal area; resulting in A. Turner finding the net and giving Tataraimaka a lead. The Egmont halves were playing a sound game, feeding their forwards well and spoiling the attacking of the opposing forwards, Hoby in particular being very prominent in this respect. The visitors were not long in equalising the scores, a nice forward rush ending in Charters securing possession in the circle and sending in a sdiot which beat the goalkeeper. There was no further score, although in the last few minutes Tataraimaka made deter-1 mined efforts to regain the lead, but the Egmont backs were sale, Cutfield's big hits being of great value to his side. The Rev. Addenlbrookc refereed. It will be necessary to have another deciding matoh, which will ,be played on the Racecourse next Saturday, when another good game may be expected.
