TARANAKI v. WELLINGTON.
The Wellington v. Taranaki match takes place next Thursday, and is creating a lot of interest. The Taranaki team will he a strong side. The final selection will be made to-day. The Wellington team played a good game against Auckland last Saturday, and they are bound to be improved. A fast and open came should be witnessed here. The Wellington team arrives by the Rarawa this morning, in charge of Mr. W. J. Perrett, who has been appointed to act as referee. Arthur Seeling, a brother of Charlie, is captain of the Wellingt i team. An effort is being made' to get the' Railway Department to delay the 4.20 p.m. train till 5.20 p.m.
THE VICTORIAN GAME. CARNIVAL AT ADELAIDE. Adelaide, August 5. Twenty thousand people, were present at the Australian Rules football carnival. Victoria defeated Tasmania, and South Australia defeated Westralia.
