WIFE AND HUSBAND.

THE QUESTION OF GIVING EVIDENCE. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, August 5. The High Court, reversing the decision of the Supreme Court, decided that a wife cannot be compelled to give evidence against her husband. The case was one in which the husband was sentenced to death on a charge of wounding his wife with intent to murder her. The wife did not desire to give evidence, but the Supreme Court held she was bound to. The High Court's decision has quashed the death sentence.
