EXTRAORDINARY DEATH. By Telograph— Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. A man named Thomas Burgess, aged 6'2 years, died in a remarkable manner at Caversham to-day. He was seen leaning over a fence, the top of which was cut in a zig-zag form, and when an investigation was made it was found he N -?- s iirsiibke kind. Deceased hud been working in the country, and came home on Tuesday for a holiday. STRANGLED ON A SWING. Auckland, August 4. A child, 20 months old, a daughter of C. Lloyd, of Karangaluike, while playing with a young brother on a swing, in the temporary absence of the latter was caught in the rope and strangled. WHARF ACCIDENT. Wanganui, Yesterday. A young man named Alf. Histed had *»■ leg and arm broken on the wharf to-day. He was engaged in carting coal from the scow Maroro when a basket of coal knocked him off his cart on to the wharf. The injured man was taken to the hospital, where he is progressing as favorably as possible. CHILDREN DRINK BELLADONNA. . . Auckland, Last Night. A poisoning case occurred to-day Two young children, Rita Ross (aged two yeais) and Wm. Ross (aged five years) were playing in their parents' house when they found a bottle of belladonna and took some. The effect was serious, and the children became very ill and had to be taken to the district hospital, ilicir condition had improved to-night, ana hopes of their recovery are entertained.
