RESIST MILITARY TRAINING. Ry Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Yesterday. The examination of young men registered for military training was completed at the Hutt last night under difficulties. A procession of about 300 young fellows formed at Petone and marched to the drill hall at the Hutt, singing, shouting, beating tin cans, blowing whistles, bugles, etc. The leaders of the crowd were dressed as clowns and comedians, and carried a banner with a skull and crossboncs on it. A stone waß hurled through the skylight of the hall, and the police arrested the man who threw it. Later on nearly every pane of glass in the building was similarly broken. The doors of the hall were closed when the authorities recognised that the mob meant mischief, and the young fellows called upon to submit to medical examination were admitted one by one. An attempt was made to storm the hall, but the police and the permanent artillerymen were able to frustrate it. J. he police were jostled, and some eggs were thrown at them. A large number of youths declined to enter the hall to be examined, fearing they would be roughly handled by the mob. The Defence Department will probably take proceedings against the ringleaders of the demonstration.
