BRITISH SHIPS IN WAR TIME.
DISPOSAL OF RECAPTURED * VESSELS. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 4, 10 p.m. London, August 4. Despite Dr. Maenamara's opposition, the House of Commons Standing Committee amended the Naval Prize Bill, providing that British ships recaptured from the encmv be returned to the owners free of salvage. It was argued that as shipowners made proper contribution to the navy they were entitled to complete protection, and should not be compelled to pay salvage. The Government undertook to pool prize money for the benefit of all officers and men engaged in war. The committee, without further amendment, reported the Bill for the third reading.
