AMERICAN TARIFF QUESTION
THE FARMERS' FREE LIST. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Washington, August 2. The Insurgent Republicans and Democrats passed through the Senate the Farmers' Free List Bill, after rejecting the Farmers' Bill passed 'by the House of Representatives. The Senate Bill is practically the same as the rejected Bill, except that meat products, flour and cereal products are only admitted free when coming from countries with which the United States lias reciprocity. Canada is obviously the country meant. The Democrats regard this as a substantial victory, and intend, if the President does not veto the Bill, to open the whole tariff question in the present session.
