THE IRISH ENVOYS
ENTHUSIASTIC ABOUT NEW ZEALAND. By Cable —Press Association —Copyright. Sydney, August 2. 1 The Irish delegates are enthusiastic over their New Zealand mission. Mr. Donovan declares that New Zealanders have come to recognise that the settlement of the Irish question will not only conduce to the contentment of Ireland but tend to the solidarity of the Empire. He is confident that if a plebiscite were taken it would show that 90 per cent, of New Zealanders had practical sympathy with the claims of the Irish people. The delegates have unbounded praise for the treatment accorded them by the press. The Irish delegates were greatly struck by the prosperity everywhere evident in New Zealand, and the absence of the extremes of wealth and poverty. Mr. Redmond declared that it was a more democratic country than America, as there was more freedom in every sense than in the United States.
