STILL A PREMIER. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Sydney, August 1: A cablegram has been sent to Mr. McGowen, informing him that he retains the Premiership. A MINISTER RESIGNS. Sydney, August 1. Mr. Nielsen resigns the portfolio of Lands to-day. THE OPPOSITION'S INTENTION. BYrELECTIONS TO BE BITTERLY FOUGHT. Received 1, 9.30 p.m. Sydney, August 1. Parliament has prorogued till August 23. Whatever the state of the parties then it is expected that Mr. Wade, Leader of the Opposition, will again move a censure motion, in order to determine the personnel of the partieß. Mr. Neilsen has formally resigned. It is not intended to fill the vacancy until Mr. McGowen's return. The by-elections will be bitterly fought. The leaders of both sides are preparing an active campaign.
