FIRES.
BIG STORES DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Blenheim, Wednesday. Shortly before 5 o'clock last evening a fire was discovered in Dalgety's stores, but as the fireboxes of the engines were under water the brigade was powerless to help. The books and office furniture were removed to safety, but nothing else was saved, and with the exception of the strong-room the whole buildin" was burned to the ground. ° The Royal Hotel adjoining had a narrow escape.
