There is mneh adverse criticism and many indignant protests by the press and public men at Mr. Fisher's Review of Reviews interview. It is claimed that it is a misrepresentation of Australian aims and feelings. Others characterise it as a disgrace to Australia and a heresy. The British Empire League, at a meeting, after strong speeches had been delivered, decided to cable to London emphatically repudiating the allegation of disloyalty against the Australian people. It was decided to arrange a demonstration of protest. Several Labor members condemned Mr. Fisher's utterances.

ME. HUGHES' VIEWS. WANTS TO SEE FULL TEXT. Received 25, 9.30 p.m. Melbourne, July 25. Mr. Hughes (Acting Prime Minister) says that he wohM like to see the full text of Mr. Fisher's remarks. He feels very sure that it will be found upon enquiry that Mr. Fisher's views were quite other than those which the disjointed fragments cabled out would have them believe. ASTONISHMENT IN AUSTRALIA. Received 25, 11.45 p.m. London, July 25. The newspapers publish Australian cablegrams expressing astonishment at Mr. Tisher's interview. All the newspapers are printing extracts of the interview.
