QUEEN MARY'S JEWELS. Among the jewels the Queen most values is a chain of pearls presented to her as a wedding present by the women of twenty-three English counties. The sum of £OOOO was subscribed, but only £SOOO was spent on the necklace, and the other £IOOO was divided amongst various charities chosen by her Majesty. Following the precedent of all Coronations since the Restoration, the Crown for the Queen was specially designed and made. Diamonds were the only gems used, and in beauty of outline, the splendor of its jewels, and the perfection of its craftsmanship Queen Mary's new crown has never been surpassed. Lightness had to be aimed at. The new crown, including its cap of violet velvet and its edging of heraldic miniver, weighs under lfloz., this result having been obtained by the use of an extremely line, almost invisible, framework.
