THE KING IN SCOTLAND

A BRILLIANT PROCESSION. PATRIOTIC ACCLAIM. By Cable—Press Association—Copyright. Received 18, 10.10 p.m. London, July 1.8. The Duke of Connaught received the Sovereigns and Royalties at Edinburgh railway station. The Lord Provost presented the keys of the city to the King. There was a brilliant procession to Holyrood, troops lining the streets. i The guards of honor and the troops in escort were exclusively Scots. The Scots ' Greys, under Prince Arthur of Connaught, evoked almost as much patriotic acclaim as the Royal carriage. The Chief Constable of Edinburgh headed the procession. Then came the Fife and Forfar Yeomanry, followed by the March Pursuivant, the Unicorn Pursuivant, the Ross Herald, and the Rothsay Herald in the tabards. Then came the first division of the Scots Guards as the escort of the officers of the headquarters staff and the King of Arms, the second division of the escort immediately preceding the Royal carriage, which was an open landau drawn by four splen-! did Cleveland bays. The Royal Standard followed. Then came the aides to the officers in the procession, the third division of Scots Greys, members of the Royal household in three landaus, the fourth division of the escort, and a squadron of Scottish horse. After entering the Palace precincts the King, accompanied by the Duke of Connaught, inspected the guard of honor supplied by the 2nd Battalion of the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. The King, walking down the line-, neeamc visible to the spectators on the slopes of the hills, and the enthusiastic cheering was renewed. London, July 17.
