N.Z. UNIVERSITY

COURT OF CONVOCATION. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wellington, Last Night. The Court of Convocation of the Middle (University district held a special meeting to-night to consider several points referred to the court by the Senate of the New Zealand University in connection with the reconstruction of courses for arts and science degrees. It was resolved that for the B.A. and B.Sc. pass degree there he substituted a B.A. pass degree, leading to the M.Sc. degree on the arts side. It was also resolved that if B.A. and B.Sc. degrees he amalgamated no special pass degree be given in science; that it is desirable that the course adopted be approved by the Professorial Board; that no subject should be compulsory for a. B.A. degree, except in so far as compulsion is necessary for a homogeneous course; that the conference urges on the Senate the desirability of holding a conference to deal with details of arts and science courses.
