EFFORTS TO REPEAL SECTIONS 07 .? DEFENCE ACT.

A movement hag been inaugurated under the title of "The National Peace and Anti-Militarist Council of New Zealand" to organise those who are protesting against the compulsory clauses of the Defence Act to take united action ' in an effort to have the clauses repealed. An indignation meeting is being arranged for in Christcburch. A petition praying for the repeal of the sompulsory training clauses will be circulated throughout the Dominion, ami candidates for the forthcoming election will be asked to pledge themselves in the interests of the movement. '. Committees under the direction of the council will, it is officially announced, arrange for legal advice and assistance for any who may be prosecuted under the provisions of the Act, and will give information regarding the interpretation of certain clauses of the Act.
FAILING TO REGISTER. Wellington, Last Night. Before Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., to-day, ' William Colcy pleaded guilty to failing to register as a territorial under tin Defence Act of 1909. Sub-Inspector Sheehan stated that accused was tn»-?r ringleader of half-a-dozen lads at BaHjr'rJ J who had given the department a great I*' f deal of trouble. Accused had onry .
