Fifty Australian cadets are camped at Bisley, seventy at Crystal Palace, and seventy are visiting the provinces. The cadets will tour France and Germany, visiting the field of Waterloo. They will return by the Demosthenes on August 31. DOGS FOR MAWSON'S EXPEDITION. Copenhagen, July 12. Dr. Mawson's eight Greenland dogs have been delivered to the explorer's agent, and are being taken to London. ASIATIC CHOLERA IN ITALY. ' Rome, July 12. An official inquiry shows that there have been 80 cases of Asiatic cholera J and 20 deaths in Palmero in a week; 00 cases and 21 deaths in Naples; and 100 cases elsewhere in Italy. The wife of an Essex farmer has been cured of the effects of a burning accident after many years' suffering through twenty members of her family having volunteered to give oter two hundred pieces of skin for grafting purposes.

The court has ruled that Birkbeck's banking business was ultra vires and the shareholders are not liable for the losses of depositors, whose only claim is against the assets. CRIPPEN'S SOLICITOR. London, vJuly 12. Mr. Archer Newton, Crippen's solicitor, has been suspended for twelve months and ordered to pay cost?. Mr. Justice Darling stated that he was satisfied Crippen had not been defended as he should have been. The case was conducted largely for the purpose of making newspaper copy, and others besides Mr. Newton deserved punishment. SHOOTING OF A NATIVE. London, July 12. The Hon. Galbraith Lowry Cole has been acquitted on a charge of having shot and killed a native named Sionga who was suspected of sheep-stealing at Makura,-British East Africa. Mr. Harcourt, replying to a question, said that the official report of the trial would be published.

Following the death by what was supposed to be accidental drowning of James Petitt, president of the Peavy Grain Company, Chicago, the coroner hns been requested to Teopen the inquest, as Petitt had previously been in serious financial straits.
