BOOT MANUFACTURERS WANTED. By Cable. —Press Association.—Copyright Sydney, July 13. A boot manufacturer told the Labor Commission that he could give a monetary guarantee to employ an extra hundred hands for the. next five years. WHINING OF LABOR PARTY. ' Melbourne, July 13. A deputation from the Trades Council protested to the Acting-Premier against the proposal to import artisan labor. Mr. Watt replied that he was going to import artisans, but not under contract. He was sick of this whining from the Trades Hall, It was not a proposition that the scarcity of labor should be maintained in order that workers might get higher wages.
ONE OPTIMIST. Received 14, I a.m. Sydney, July 13. The city surveyor was the first witness'before the Commission who did not complain of a shortage of hands. He stated he had plenty of applicants for vacancies.
