COLA'] LLE—PEAT , . t Says the Feilding Star:—A wedding in which a considerable amount of interest has been taken by the residents of this district was celebrated at fit. John's Anglican Church, Feilding, at noon on Tuesday, when Miss Olive May Penard, only daughter of Mrs. Horcourt Peat, of Feilding, and formerly a member of the literary staff of the Feilding Star, was married to the Rev, Algernon Holland Colville, eldest son of Mr. H. A. Colville, of Copthorne, Sussex, England, and Vicar-designate of St. Mary's, New Plymouth. Mr. Colville conducted the recent Anglican Mission in Feilding, - and lias officiated several times at St. John's, where his eloquence and strong commonsense views have ensured the rapt attention of large congregations, whose good wishes for the happy couple's future have been freely expressed. The Vicar (the Rev. A. Innes Jones) officiated at the ceremony, and | the church was thronged with friends of ' , the contracting parties. The briifc looked handsome in a dress of ivory satin, the skirt having a design of true lover's knots worked on it, and the bodice being trimmed with Indian lace. A veil of Limerick lace and a wreath ol orange blossoms completed a charming costume, the effect of which was-en-hanced by the beautiful shower bouquet of white blossoms and ferns carried by the bride. Little Miss Ruth Innes Jones, who acted as train-bearer, was a dainty vision , in a Kate Oreenaway ' dress of cream silk and Juli/tte cap of pearls, with pale blue rosettes. The other two bridesmaids—Miss 'Christine Livesey and Miss Kathleen* Innes Jones—wore frocks of eau-d« r nil silk, trimmed with pale heliotrope'and gold embroidery, with picture hats of green crinoline straw,, the . edges, turned up with black and green velvet piping, trimmed with white pom-poms, edged \ with black, and they carried shower bouquets of mauve anemones and violets, framed in fern and autumn leaves. The bridegroom's present to the bride wan a gold bangle, to Miss Ruth a told brooch, with pearls and amethysts, and to Misses Livesey and Innes Jones green aquamarine pendants. The Rev. E. H. Strong, of St. John's College, Auckland! was best man. The bride was given away by her brother, Mr. Louis Peat lhe service was a full choral one, St John s dioir being in strong force, and the organist (Mr. Schwartz) playing Mendelssohn's Wedding March as the wedding party left the church. A reception was held by the bride's mother at the Parish Hill after the ceremony, where a large number of guests congratulated the happy couple. The toast of the health of Mr. and Sirs.Colville was honored with enthusiasm. Amongst the guests who had come from a distance were Mrs. Charters (Auck- . )' Fletcher Harrison (Wanga-, iiui), Mrs. Jones (Wanganui), and Mrs. McGregor (Wanganui). Amongst the decorations in the hall was a beautiftfl wedding bell of green foliage and white flowers, from Mr. A. H. The good wishes foi He v. Mr. and Mrs. Colville's future were liberally expressed in the magnificent array of wedding presents from far and near, which included some half-dozen substantial cheques.. They leave for England by the Al'heinc from Wellington on Thursday returning to New Plymouth at the end of Januarv next.
