THE UNSIGNED CHEQUE. \ By Telegraph—Pre® Aflsooiatkm. Auckland, Last Night. A witness at the S.M. Court to-day spoke of a peculiarly tragic "occurrence which caused him considerable, monetary loss. A man named Sinythe offered to advance Mm £3OO in order that be might liquidate some business debt*. The necessary papers were prepared, and witness went to get Smythe's cheque. As lie and the latter were walking along the street, however, Smythe dropped down dead. Thus the cheque was never signed.
