THE RUGBY GAME. f .MANAWATL' AND HOKOWIJENI'A. j By Telegraph—Press Association. Levin, Monday. Partial amalgamation between the Munawatu and Horowhenua Rugby Unions has been completed for the purpose of representative games against the stronger unions. Auckland, Taranaki and Wellington are specified as the North Island teams against which the amalgamated fifteen will be pitted, also against such South Island teams as may be agreed upon. A joint committee drawn from both unions has been | established to conduct all the affaire of the amalgamated team.

The Manawatu representatives defeated Horowhenua at Levin on Saturday by 8 points to 3. THE SOUTHERN DIVISION. The colors of the redoubtable Waimate Club were lowered on Saturday by Okaiawa to the tune of 8 points to 3, thus giving Okaiawa the lead in the i senior championship. In the junior division, Hawera beat Waimate by 8 to 3, and Normanby defeated Kaponga by 16 points to 6. Waimate thirds defeated Kaponga by 11 to nil.

OUTSIDE MATCHES. Wellington.—Athletic (3) v. Poneke (3); Southern (8) v. Petone (0); St. James (-241 v. Wellington (3); Oriental (fi) v. Melrose (5); Old Boys (13) v. Victoria College (3). Auckland.—Ponsonby (22) beat University (11); City (40) beat Newton (nil); Pamell (12) beat Graf tea (8). Christchurch.—After a fast and attractive game Albion suffered their first defeat of the season, being beaten by Old Boys by 0 points to 3. Merivale beat Linwood by G points to 3 after a rather uninteresting forward struggle, and Cl)ristchurch had an easy victory over jMarist Old Boys by 34 points' to 3. Canterbury College were again unable to raise a team and defaulted to Sydenham. Dunedin.—University (12) v. Pirates (!)); Southern (8) v. Alhambra (6); Kaikorai (8) v. Zingari Richmond (6); Taieri (25) v. Dunedin (0); Union (11) v. Port (9). NORTHERN UNION GAME. •

TARAXAKI v. WAXGANUI. Tho Taranaki v. Wanganui r»turn match under Northern Union rules will l>e played at the Park, Eltham, on Thursday, July 20. The Taranaki team has been greatly strengthened.
