HOPEFUL IN THE SOUTH. By Telegraph—Press Association. Christchurch, Last Night. The Acting-Prime Minister (Sir James Carroll) arrived from the south this evening, and in dealing with his impressions of his visit, said he did not anticipate any change in the numerical strength of the LiberaJ Party in tilie South Island, where it was full off life and hope, and looking forward with a great deal of confidence to November next.
