CASTAWAYS ON lIOWE ISLAND. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright Sydney, July 7. Later messages from Lord Howe Island report that the captain and eight of the crew of the Whangaroa landed oil June 24. The vessel was abandoned fifteen miles south of West Island. She was water-logged several days before, she was abandoned. Efforts »re being made to communicate by wireless telegraphy with the vessels in the vicinity of Lord Howe Island, with a view :o pit ' cing ip the castaways. 16 is considered possible that wreckage recently .sighted off Lord Howe Island came from the Whangaroa.
