FIRE.
WANGANUI HOUSE DESTROYED. By Telegraph—Press Association. Wanganui, Last Night. A fire broke out to-night in a sixroomed house in Jackson street, owned and occupied by T. Mouat. The house, which was destroyed, was insured foi £350 in the Royal Company, which held a risk of £l5O on the furniture. SERIOUS FIRE IN DUNEDIN. Dunedin, July 5. This evening a tire occurred in Messrs. Laidlaw and Gray's ironmongery premises and Mr. Taylor's hosiery shop, in the heart of a large block of buildings in Rattray street. After an hour's hard work the brigade succeeded in getting the outbreak under control, effecting an excellent save of the valuable premises adojining. Messrs. Laidlaw and Gray'a stock was damaged to the extent of about £4OOO, while Mr. Taylor's stock and fittings were completely ruined. Laidlaw and Gray were insured in the Guardian Office for £9OOO, and Mr. Taylor in 'th> Commercial Union for £SOO. Both buildings are owned by Mr. Laidlaw and are insured in the Standard Office for about £2500.
