SILKEN THREAD OF KINSHIP
THE LION AND HER CUBS. By Cable.—Press Association. —Copyright. Received 0, 10.30 p.m. London, July B. At a luncheon given by the United Club to the overseas Parliamentarians, Mr. Walter Long, in proposing the health Of the guests, said that throughout the Imperial Conference there had been one unbroken thread of deep and genuine affection between the dominions and the Motherland. This would enable Britain to look forward with as much confidence to the future as she could look back with pride to the past. Sir Joseph Ward, responding, declared that he had never anticipated the possibility of forcing the pace quicker than the representatives of the Motherland would allow. One thing whereon all were agreed, and which he would not regard as a party question, was the naval defence of the Empire as a whole. (Cheers.)
