A THREATENED STRIKE. By Telegraph—Press Association. Dunedin, Last Night. It is understood that trouMe is brewing amongst the coal miners at Green Island. It is stated that some miners went to work in one pit on Sunday in contravention of the Coal Mines Act, and that one of the men who so offended was discharged. It is rumored that this is resented by the miners, who allege that the man has been victimised. The matter will be discussed at a meeting of the Miners' Union to-morrow night.
GIRLS GO OUT. Dunedin, Last Night. A strike occurred at Ross and Glendiiiing's Roshn woollen mills this afternoon, some 30 girls employed in the worsted spinning department ceasing work. It is stated they objected on personal grounds to work with two other girls. Mr 1 . Glendining had a conference with the strikers, but without result. He states he expects the girls will return to work to-morrow, and if they do not others will be engaged in their plaees. /
