OBITUARY.
A VICTORIAN CELEBRITY. By Cable.—Press Association.—Copyright Received 3, 9.40 p.m. Melbourne, July 9. Obituary.—Colonel Tom Price, who commanded the Victorian Mounted Rifles in the Boer War, and was afterwards Commandant of the Victorian Forces until his retirement in 1904, was the son of John Price, supposed to be the original Maurice Frcre, in parens Clarke's "For the Term of His Natural Life." Ultimately he was murdered by convicts, ten being executed for the crime. Colonel Price was notorious over his alleged order to the tToops during the maritime strike to "Fire low and lay 'em out!"
